Privacy policy

Your child's privacy, in plain English.

Last updated: 3 November 2026

1. The short version

  • Wakewick is a game for secondary-school students. We built it to collect as little as possible.
  • We don't ask children for their real name, email, phone number, home address, school, photo, voice or location.
  • Players choose a nickname. The game remembers their level, subjects and progress so it can pick the right questions.
  • There are no ads, no advertising trackers and no open chat.
  • We never sell personal data. We never use it for advertising.
  • Parents can ask us to see, correct or delete their child's data at any time.

2. Who we are

"Wakewick", "we" and "us" mean the team that makes the Wakewick game and this website. This policy explains how we handle personal data under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA), and the extra care we take because our players are young.

Data Protection Officer: the Wakewick privacy lead, reachable at privacy@wakewick.com.

3. What we collect from children

What the game keeps

  • A nickname the player makes up. We ask players not to use their real name.
  • Level and subjects (for instance "Sec 3, Physics and Chemistry"), so questions match what they learn in class.
  • Game progress and answers: which questions they tried, which they got right, game money earned and items. We use this to choose the next question and to build the weekly summary for parents.
  • Where it is kept: on your child's own phone, inside the app. The game does not send it to us or to anyone else. There are no accounts and no player ID that links a phone to a person.

The app uses no analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools.

What the game never asks for

  • Real name, email address, phone number or home address.
  • Name of their school, class or teacher.
  • Photos, videos or voice recordings.
  • Precise location. The game is set in Singapore, but it never needs to know where your child is.
  • Contacts, or access to other apps.

4. What we collect from parents

  • If you email us, we keep your email address and message so we can reply.
  • The weekly summary is worked out on your child's phone from their own learning record and shown inside the game. It is not uploaded or emailed, and we don't need your email address for it.

If you join the list on our website

  • What we keep: the email address you give, the level you chose (if you chose one), and the date and time you agreed.
  • Why: only to tell you about Wakewick opening. We don't use it for other marketing, and we never sell it.
  • Who it's for: parents and guardians, or students aged 13 or older with a parent's OK. Please don't enter a child's own email if they are under 13.
  • How long: we delete it when you ask, when you leave the list, or within 12 months of Wakewick opening, whichever comes first.
  • Leaving: every email has a link to leave the list. You can also write to privacy@wakewick.com.

5. This website

This website has no ads, no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels. The only personal data it asks for is the email on the list form, described above. If you click an email link, your email app sends the message, not this site. Like most websites, our web host keeps short technical logs (such as IP addresses) for security only.

6. How we use information

We only use information to:

  • run the game and save progress;
  • choose questions that match the player's level and subjects;
  • show parents the weekly summary;
  • fix bugs and keep the game safe and working;
  • reply when you contact us;
  • meet our legal duties.

We do not use it for advertising, we do not build marketing profiles of children, and we do not sell it.

Wakewick is made for students in Secondary 1 to 5, about 12 to 17 years old. A parent or guardian should download the app, or agree to their child using it. Where a player is under 13, we rely on a parent or guardian's consent.

Parents can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us. We will then stop using the data and delete it, unless the law requires us to keep something.

8. Who we share it with

We don't sell, rent or trade personal data. We only share it:

  • with the services that host this website, keep the list and send our email, under contracts that bind them to protect it and use it only for us;
  • if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

Your phone's app store handles downloads and subscription payments under its own privacy policy. We don't receive your payment card details.

9. Where it's kept, and for how long

Game progress stays on your child's phone. Deleting the app deletes it. Emails you send us are kept only as long as we need to help you, and no longer than 12 months.

10. Keeping it safe

We use reasonable security to protect personal data from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, such as encryption in transit and limited staff access. No system is perfect. If a data breach is likely to cause significant harm, we will tell the people affected and the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC), as the PDPA requires.

11. Your rights

You, or your child with your help, can ask us to:

  • see the personal data we hold about your child;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete it;
  • stop using it (withdraw consent).

Email us at the address below. We may ask a few questions to check that you are the parent or guardian. We aim to reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can contact the PDPC at pdpc.gov.sg.

12. Our promises for a children's app

  • Private by default. The safest settings are the only settings.
  • Collect the least. If we don't need it to run the game, we don't ask for it.
  • No ads, no ad trackers, and no "watch an ad for a reward".
  • No open chat and no way for strangers to contact your child.
  • No location tracking.
  • No pressure to pay. Game money is earned by playing and learning, never bought.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, for instance if we start collecting something new, we'll tell parents in the app and ask for consent again where needed.

14. Contact us
